Walk with a purpose: Help combat autism

Alison Craigie walked with her 17-year-old son Sam Gelfand, who has autism, to bring hope to other families.

Craigie and her son joined more than 5,000 walkers, who raised about $200,000 during the Broward Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

“I walk because my son is the result of what early intervention, hard work, love and patience can do,” said Craigie, who has participated in the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach walks since 2011.
